OUTREACH

We respond to our faith in Jesus Christ, and we are empowered to do what will bless others with his love and invite them to join with us. We want to demonstrate that God is at work in our lives in blessing us to be a blessing.

Also, we want others to feel encouraged to bring new ideas, and new gifts and graces, to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people around us. People need a purpose that is God-given and the church is the place to go to be helped and to help do that.

Below is a list of things we would like to invite people to join in or come alongside to do with us. Contact us for more information!

FOOD TRUCK
Once per month, we are able to work with the Food Resource Bank of Springfield to distribute food to families or individuals without them proving their need. This is usually scheduled on the last Wednesday of each month from Noon to 1 pm in our church parking lot. Anyone, young or old, can help us feed hungry people.

CARING KITCHEN
Once a month on the 4th Saturday, a hot meal is prepared for the Caring Kitchen shelter in Urbana. We need volunteers to take the food from our church and serve it to the people who come from 11 to Noon for lunch. We fellowship with them and show our interest in their lives in the same way we would like someone to do for us.

WEST LIBERTY CARES
This is the emergency help network for the West Liberty-Salem school district area. The Food Pantry is open every Wednesday for families to use this service once per month.  Our church is responsible for helping distribute food during the months of May and November. Year-round, we help refer people locally for financial emergencies as well as provide funding in partnership with the local churches in the area.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL
Our annual Ice Cream Social, along with other special needs fundraising through meal events, is done together in partnership with churches, businesses, and service clubs such as the West Liberty Lions Club. The annual Ice Cream Social takes place in July here at the church and is a highlight of the community pulling together to help desperate individual situations of need.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Every summer we join forces with West Liberty UCC and West Liberty Presbyterian churches to host a week-long VBS for Pre-K to Grade 6. We sponsor a Mission Project that the children and the churches are encouraged to support. We teach important life principles, encourage new relationships, and invite them to a relationship with Jesus Christ. We have a final evening for the kids to show parents what they have done together and we have a joint worship service for the churches to celebrate.

GRIEFSHARE
GriefShare is a 13-week seminar and support group designed to help rebuild after losing a loved one--offering help, encouragement and hope. There is a registration fee of $5. GriefShare takes place at the United Methodist Church and runs for 13 straight Monday mornings at 10:00 a.m. and/or Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. The 13-week seminars start at various times throughout the year. For more information, call 937-441-3592.

There is also a one-time "Surviving the Holidays" GriefShare event hosted by the Church each November.

Blessing of the Bikes
BLESSING THE BIKES
Kids come from around the neighborhood to have their bikes blessed and watch the "Blue Knights" motorcycles lead motorcyclists around Logan County to the church to raise money for the Logan County Homeless Shelter. Support the kids as they learn to enjoy riding bicycles in their community. Helping the Logan County Homeless Shelter and safety and fun for all bicycle riders.

NATIONAL/GLOBAL OUTREACH AND ISSUES
The West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church, The United Methodist Church, the Social Principles of the United Methodist Church, and The United Methodist Committee on Relief can help you see the ways our many diverse churches are reaching out and why.
